After locating and arresting Mazen’s co-defendant, Antonio Julio Sanchez on April 24, 2013, Tempe detectives continued to follow up with leads and to actively search for Mazen Diamond with the assistance of the US Marshall Service. With the joint work of both Tempe detectives and the Deputy US Marshal assigned to the Tempe Police Department Mazen’s new Atlanta address and identity was turned over to the US Marshal Service in Atlanta Georgia where they located and arrested Mazen. Mazen was living with his girlfriend and two young children where he had started a new life and identity.

Mazen had been on the run and in hiding for over a decade after he plead guilty to sexual assault and surreptitious videotaping in 2002, and failed to appear for sentencing. Mazen and his co-defendant Antonio Julio Sanchez drugged a female while at a bar on March 18, 2001 and then took her to their Tempe apartment where they sexually assaulted her and videotaped the assault. Both Mazen and Sanchez again found another victim on March 23, 2001 at a bar and drugged her then took her to their Tempe apartment where they both sexually assaulted her and also videotaped the assault. Below is Mazen Diamond’s booking photo from March 2001.
