Home MenuMiller Road - McKellips to Curry Streetscape
Completed in April 2026, this project added vegetation, safety and traffic-calming improvements on Miller Road from McKellips to Curry. Miller Road is now the home to new planter islands with curb cuts; those direct stormwater to the new vegetation inside. Trees species planted along Miller Rd include desert ironwood and blue palo verde, which shade and cool the area. Speed cushions, a pedestrian crosswalk, ADA improvements, and decreased speed limits have all been added to help address safety concerns for the area.
Design Features
- Six pairs of curb extensions with integrated rainwater harvesting and landscaping
- Six speed cushions
- Enhanced bike lane signage, including green reflective pavement markers
An east-west crosswalk is under review. Tempe is working closely with the City of Scottsdale to coordinate the necessary permits and approvals to include the crosswalk.
This project was coordinated with Tempe's ongoing pavement improvements.
