Scottsdale Road Bike Lane Project

Construction to improve pedestrian and bicycle accessibility on Scottsdale Road from Continental Drive (Roosevelt Street) to Curry Road is underway. Project improvements include buffered bike lanes, pedestrian curb ramps and pedestrian push buttons. The project will be constructed in multiple phases and is anticipated to be completed in summer 2026. Once complete, the existing number of traffic lanes and medians will be maintained. Crews are currently working on the west and east sides of Scottsdale Road from Curry Road to Continental Drive (Roosevelt Street).

Construction Updates

Starting on June 8, crews will be working on Scottsdale Road from Curry Road to Continental Drive (Roosevelt Street), making utility adjustments, installing a pedestrian fence in the center median, north of Hancock Avenue, finishing electrical installations and installing and installing temporary striping  for the project.  Work hours will be 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., 4 a.m. for concrete pouring. Final project completion is anticipated in August 2026.   The Orbit Earth route will be detoured, for latest information: valleymetro.org/rider-alerts. Tempe will work to minimize impacts during this project.

 Impacts:

• Southbound and northbound traffic lanes along Scottsdale Road will be restricted to one lane in each direction from 5 a.m. – 9 p.m. until work is completed

• If the utility adjustment activities cross driveways and side streets, there may be a period of time where access is restricted; however, crews will work to expedite this activity and restore access as quickly as possible

Please follow no parking signage when posted. Pedestrian, business and residential access will be maintained. Project timelines and hours are subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.

Roosevelt Storm Drain Project

Starting April 13, there will be additional intermittent traffic and turning lane restrictions along Scottsdale Road starting at the Continental Drive (Roosevelt Street) and Scottsdale Road intersection for the Roosevelt Street Storm Drain Project until June. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7. For more information about this project tempe.gov/waterprojects
