April is Bike Month, and Tempe has several events for you to participate in like Bike to Work Day, Open Streets and the Mayor's Ride.
Open Streets/Tour de Tempe
On Sunday, April 12 , 2026 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tempe’s downtown streets will transform into a vibrant public event called Open Streets Tempe. There will be free t-shirts for the first 750 participants. A map of the free bike route and downtown site plan will be posted online as soon as it is available. Sign up to be part of the bike parade.
Enjoy a car-free corridor through Tempe where you can:
Join free fitness classes in the middle of the street
Watch local artists create and perform
Connect with neighbors and community organizations
Support local businesses and food vendors
Try different forms of active transportation in a safe environment
Simply sit, relax, and watch your community come alive
This initiative is a partnership between Tempe Bicycle Action Group, the City of Tempe, Downtown Tempe Authority, Tempe Chamber of Commerce and Tempe Tourism.
Bike to Work Day
Bike to Work Day – Wednesday, April 15, 6:30 to 8 a.m., seven different locations.
The first 350 bike riders can stop by one of these locations to get a free t-shirt and water bottle.

Mayor's Ride, Wednesday, April 15, 7 a.m., Kiwanis Park, 6005 S All America Way
Join the Mayor and City Councilmembers on a bike ride from Kiwanis Park to the Tempe City Hall in downtown Tempe.
Bike Hero
