Your business can play a critical role in making Tempe the most sustainable city in Arizona! The following are city services that can support you in being more sustainable and contributing to our citywide efforts.

Waste and Recycling

Tempe has a goal of diverting 25 percent of commercial waste from the landfill. Please join hundreds of Tempe businesses in using city recycling services, and consider joining our green organics pilot program.

If your business serves food commercially, please consider joining the Tempe Grease Cooperative (TGC) to save money, protect our wastewater infrastructure and recover your waste to support Tempe's renewable energy goals. Tell your favorite restaurant to be a TGC member.

Your business can play a role in ensuring that Tempe has water for years to come. Tempe is the only city in the Valley to have a water conservation business liaison, who works directly with your business to find areas where you can save on your water bill and support Tempe’s water conservation efforts

Energy Efficiency

Investing in energy conservation is an easy way to save money and reduce pollution. Salt River Project (SRP) and Arizona Public Service (APS) are important partners in Tempe’s efforts to reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions. Conduct an energy audit with your utility to learn how you can join the Tempe business community in reducing energy costs.

Renewable Energy

You can also go green by going solar. Consult Salt River Project (SRP) and Arizona Public Service (APS) about whether you have a location that allows you to join efforts to solarize Tempe.

Help Tempe make sure that we keep our watershed clean! Check out these storm water tips to learn how your business can be involved.





Go green by encouraging employees to use our multi-modal transit system. Tempe offers free youth transit passes for teens and free neighborhood circulators. Businesses with 5 employees or more can also purchase Platinum Passes for their employees and work with a Valley Metro representative to provide assistance.  We look forward to seeing you and your employees bus, bike, walk and rail to work.
