SMIO is designing and implementing the first citywide Strategic Grants Management Program to strengthen how the City secures, manages, and prioritizes grant funding. The program focuses on standardizing citywide grant policies and procedures, implementing the Grants Management Platform across all departments, administering the Tribal Gaming Grants Program in partnership with Government Relations, and providing training and technical assistance. The program ultimately seeks to:

• Establish consistent, citywide standards for grant management and governance
• Strengthen accountability and audit readiness
• Enhance coordination across departments and regional partners
• Improve citywide capacity to identify and apply for grant funding
• Improve efficiency in grant applications, reporting, and compliance

The Strategic Grants Management program supports the City of Tempe in advancing City Council strategic priorities and performance measures by strengthening grant-funded projects delivering measurable results and improving City services.
