Standard tank toilets are rated by the EPA WaterSense program. A list of model numbers can be found on the EPA WaterSense Product Search. Only toilets that flush at 1.28 gallons per flush or lower, or are dual flush, qualify for this rebate. Individuals who are upgrading Single Family Residential properties or their individual condo units should utilize the Single Family Residential toilet rebate.  

Commercial toilets, also known as flushometer-valve toilets, can be found in commercial, institutional or industrial restrooms. WaterSense labeled commercial toilets flush no more than 1.28 gallons per flush. Search for WaterSense labeled flushometer-valve toilets.

Approved projects will receive 50% of the purchase price of the tank toilet or commercial toilet, up to $100 per toilet. Tank toilets must flush a max of 1.28 gallons per flush and commercial, flushometer-valve toilets can flush up to 1.28 gallons to qualify for the rebate. Dual flush toilets qualify, as well. EPA WaterSense labeled urinals use no more than .5 gallon of water per flush. Older urinals use one to five gallons per flush. Facilities that replace a single inefficient urinal with a WaterSense labeled model can save more than 4,600 gallons of water per year.

Automatic commercial ice makers are used in a variety of commercial and industrial facilities. Efficient models not only save water, but they also use less energy. The EPA ENERGY STAR certification program reports that certified ice makers are about ten to 16% more energy efficient and 20% more water efficient when compared with standard models. Air cooled ice machines that are ENERGY STAR certified and produce 20 gallons per 100 lbs. of ice for batch makers or 15 gallons per 100 lbs. of ice for continuous makers are applicable for the rebate.

Commercial clothes washers that have been certified by the EPA ENERGY STAR are about 25% more energy efficient and use 45% less water than standard models. When reviewing certified models, look for a low Integrated Water Factor (IWF) to save the most water. 

Certified clothes washers are more efficient and offer superior performance. For example, these washers do not use agitators, which reduces the damage to clothing. Residential clothes washers are common in some smaller commercial settings. ENEGY STAR certified cloths washers deliver superior efficiency and performance without sacrificing quality. They use, on average, 25% less energy and 33% less water.

WaterSense labeled faucets and faucet aerators increase efficiency without sacrificing performance. The standard flow of water is 2.2 gallons per minute. WaterSense labeled faucet aerators utilize 1.5 gallons per minute or less. 

For public restrooms that are used only for hand washing, faucet aerators with 0.5 gallons per minute flow are applicable for the rebate.  

For commercial kitchens, faucet aerators with 2.2 gallons per minute flow are applicable for the rebate.

Pre-rinse spray valves can be used in commercial and institutional kitchens to efficiently remove food waste from dishes prior to dishwashing. High-efficiency pre-rinse spray valves save energy and water. Simply replacing one old, inefficient pre-rinse spray valve can save more than 7,000 gallons of water per year. That much water can be used to wash 4,800 racks of dishes.

Upgrading the showerhead for the average family can save up to 2,700 gallons per year. By reducing the use of hot water, each showerhead upgrade can also save more than 330 kilowatt hours of electricity each year.

Size requirements for commercial dishwashing machines can be calculated by estimating the number of individuals served by the food service establishment. This information is a key determinant of the type of dishwasher that is most suited for a facility.

ENERGY STAR certified commercial dishwashers are, on average, 40% more energy efficient and 50% more water efficient. They can save businesses an average of $1,500 annually and more than $19,000 on utility bills over the product’s lifetime when compared to standard models.
