Solid waste haulers operating within Tempe must obtain a license from the City of Tempe Public Works Department to ensure compliance with city regulations. Companies can apply for a new license or check their current license status conveniently through the Tempe Solid Waste Hauler License portal.

Apply and Submit Your License

To apply for or renew a license, download and complete the Tempe Solid Waste Hauler License Application .

Submit the completed application and proof of insurance by email to SWoperations@tempe.gov or by mail along with payment.

The annual license fee is $1,000 per vehicle and is valid through the end of the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).

Payment for the license fee should be made out to “City of Tempe” and submitted by mail via check, money order or cashier’s check to the following address:

Hauler License Portal Coming Soon 

The City of Tempe is preparing to launch a new online Solid Waste Hauler License Portal. This portal will allow users to apply for a solid waste hauler license or verify an existing one.
