Recycle smart to make sure that everything you place in the blue bin can be recycled. Always keep recyclables loose, and never bag them. Bagging recyclables or placing the wrong items in the blue bin can lead to contamination, sending loads to the landfill. 

Recyclable items

The following items are accepted in blue recycling bins.

  • Cardboard -  broken down
  • Paper
    • Mail
    • Cups – includes coffee cups with sleeves and soda cups, straws and lids removed
  • Plastic
    • Jars
    • Jugs
    • Bottles and caps
    • Cups – includes to-go soda cups made from polypropylene (PP), straws and lids removed
  • Cans
    • Food cans
    • Beverage cans

NOT accepted in recycling bins:

  • Plastic bags such as trash bags or grocery bags  
  • Styrofoam
  • Shrink and bubble wrap
  • Plastic utensils (forks, knives, etc.)
  • Paper towels, napkins, facial and toilet tissue
  • Six pack plastic beverage rings
  • Self-sealing or cardboard mailing envelopes with padding or bubble wrap
  • Stained glass, mirrors, construction materials
  • Porcelain and ceramics
  • Cereal box inserts
  • Empty chemical containers
  • Dog or cat food bags
  • Food waste or liquids of any kind
  • Shredded paper
  • Trash
  • Green waste
  • Appliances
