2026 Bulk collection map and schedule (full alternative text)

Place bulk items in the same location as your regular trash and recycling collection. Follow the curbside or alley guidelines based on your collection type.

Place all bulk items on your property line, in the street or front edge of driveway. Do not block the sidewalk. 

Place all bulk items in the alley along your fence line. Do not block the alley. 

Items must be placed for collection by 6 a.m. on Monday of your scheduled collection week, no earlier than 10 days prior. Holidays observed during the week will not affect your collection schedule.

• Trash and green organics must be separated into two distinct piles and placed four feet apart.  

• All materials must be four feet away from any solid waste container, fire hydrant, gas meter, telephone or utility boxes. Do not place any items over manhole covers.  

• The amount of material is limited to 10 cubic yards: the size of a small SUV.  

• Furniture (items that are unable to be donated)
• Mattresses
• Bagged trash
• Small appliances without freon
• Washers and microwaves

Green organics must be clean and free of all other materials when taken to the third-party facility. Landscapers may not place green organics for collection. Only residents performing their own yard work may do so.

• Tree trimmings and brush (tree limbs, branches, trunks and stumps) at a maximum of 4 feet in length and no more than 19 inches in diameter 
• Leaves, pine needles, grass, small hedge clippings and weeds (placed in cardboard box or compostable bag)
• Cactus clippings (placed in cardboard box)
• Palm fronds and oleanders 

• Appliances with freon (refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, ac units)
• Unbagged animal waste 
• Tires
• Uncontained trash (must be bagged)
• Glass or mirrors
• Household and hazardous items including paint, oil, cleaners or other hazardous chemicals
• Car parts
• Railroad ties
• Dirt, rocks, concrete, bricks, cement blocks, asphalt, landscape gravel
• Construction and remodeling debris including:
• Drywall
• Plaster
• Scrap lumber
• Flooring
• Carpet or padding
• Roofing materials

If you need to dispose of items before your next bulk collection week, the following options are available:

Residents may request a special bulk trash or green organics pickup outside their regular schedule for a fee. Call 480-350-4311 for pricing or to schedule a pickup.

Tempe residents may dispose of up to 1,000 pounds of material once per month at no additional charge at the Sky Harbor Regional Transfer Station. The transfer station does not accept soil or dirt. Residents can bring household hazardous waste and items such as refrigerators to the Household Products Collection Center (HPCC) to avoid transfer station disposal fees. For accepted items and program details, visit the HPCC page.
