Tempe's Public Works Department has three divisions: Water Utilities, Field Operations, which consists of Solid Waste and Fleet services, and Engineering.
Open Positions
This position is responsible for the strategic management, evaluation, and oversight of Public Works assets, ensuring their effective and efficient utilization. Develops, implements, and monitors asset management strategies to improve performance, reduce costs, and optimize asset life cycles.
Duties include, but are not limited to the following
- Develops and implements asset management plans for Public Works assets; provides recommendations for improved operations and maintenance practices
- Oversee the Enterprise Asset Management software and documentation; improves the effectiveness of asset management technology.
- Updates asset databases for real-time accuracy
- Conducts asset audits, identifying opportunities for improved management and cost-efficiency; performs spot checks to ensure process quality and reconcile inventory
- Monitors and analyzes asset performance data to support decision-making processes, prepares reports on asset performance, valuations, and returns for internal stakeholders, and presents recommendations for enhancing asset utilization and value.
- Evaluate utilities’ asset management activities, including asset inventories, life cycle criticality, condition and remaining useful life, repair and replacement needs; oversees the life cycle of assets from acquisition through maintenance to disposal.
- Collaborates with sections throughout Public Works to ensure smooth asset management operations; builds and maintains relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers.
- Develops and leads training for new employees on asset management programs and processes and conducts refresher training classes multiple times per year for the department.
