The Tempe Police Department Traffic Section works in partnership with the City of Tempe Transportation Division and the City of Tempe Engineering Department to address neighborhood traffic safety concerns.

The Traffic Section is committed to enhancing neighborhood safety and improving residents’ quality of life by addressing traffic issues citywide. The section’s primary approach is targeted traffic enforcement, typically conducted by motorcycle officers who monitor traffic conditions and issue citations for violations.

 The Traffic Section incorporates education as a key strategy to reduce traffic violations. Efforts include engaging with neighborhood groups, providing personalized feedback during traffic stops, and maintaining high visibility in areas of concern.
