Welcome to the Office of the Chief of Police. I’m Chief Kenneth McCoy, and it is my honor to lead the men and women of the Tempe Police Department. The Office of the Chief provides overall leadership, vision, and direction for the department. Our focus is on accountability, transparency, and community trust, while ensuring the highest standards of professional service. We guide the department’s strategic priorities and oversee organizational performance to ensure we meet the evolving needs of the City of Tempe.

Supporting the Office of the Chief are several key staff and specialized units:

• Executive Support – Oversees executive scheduling, correspondence, and administrative operations for the Chief’s office.

• Police Legal Advisor – Provides legal guidance on policies, procedures, and operations to ensure compliance with state and federal law.

• Public / Media Relations & Community Affairs – Manages social media, public information, and outreach programs to promote transparency and engagement.

• Professional Standards – Oversees the Professional Standards Unit, internal affairs investigations, and policy adherence to uphold integrity and accountability.
