Unused prescription and over-the-counter medications are a common source of misuse and abuse, often taken from home medicine cabinets. Improper disposal, such as flushing, can also harm the environment and contaminate water supplies. Arizona currently ranks among the highest in the nation for prescription drug misuse among individuals 12 and older, making safe disposal more important than ever.

To help address these concerns, MedReturn drop boxes are available year-round to the public. These drop boxes provide Tempe residents with a safe, convenient, and anonymous way to dispose of unused or expired medications securely.
