Home MenuVolunteers in Policing (VIP) Program
The Tempe Police Department Volunteers in Policing (VIP) Program plays a vital role in supporting, expanding, and enhancing the services we provide to the community.
Our volunteers come from all walks of life—including students, interns, working professionals, and retirees—bringing a wide range of knowledge, skills, and life experiences to the department.
VIP members contribute in meaningful ways, such as assisting with fingerprinting, lobby services, records support, computer and data entry, and K9 training. They also provide specialized support through unique programs like the Bagpipe and Drum Band and caring for horses in the Mounted Unit.
By donating their time and talents, volunteers allow sworn and professional staff to focus on core public safety responsibilities. As a result, they are highly valued and recognized as essential members of the Tempe Police Department team.
