Water Conservation Rebates

Tempe provides customers with rebates to support water conservation and efficiency upgrades. Learn more about applying to receive rebates and how best to improve the efficiency of your home. 

Please note that due to transitions related to the coronavirus pandemic, there may be delays in receiving rebate checks. If possible, please submit rebate applications via email to ensure the quickest possible processing. Additionally, we will be contacting customers via email once your rebate is received and when it is approved. Thank you, and please direct any questions to conservation@tempe.gov

Landscape Conversion Rebate - Receive 25 cents per square foot of landscape in which you convert from grass to desert landscaping.

TreeBate - Receive a rebate of 100% (up to $75) for the purchase price of desert lush plants.

High-Efficiency Toilet Rebate- Receive a rebate of 50% of the purchase price (up to $75) of a new high-efficiency toilet that flushes 1.28 gallons per flush.

High-Efficiency Turf Irrigation Rebate - Upgrade an existing irrigation system with high efficiency spray nozzles, rain sensors, and/or controllers and receive up to $500. A home landscape consultation is required to participate.

Gray Water Recycling Systems Rebate - Receive a 50% rebate for the purchase of gray water system components (up to $200 per household).

Industrial Grant

Businesses who partner with Tempe to reduce water use by at least 15% may qualify for financial incentives for the cost of installing and upgrading water uses related to industrial/commercial processes, landscaping, and/or cooling systems. Review the PDF form. Interested businesses should start by contacting Water Conservation by phone 480-350-2668 or e-mail conservation@tempe.gov

School Gardening Grant

Tempe helps schools create gardens with educational components. To apply, complete an application and include a proposed budget and garden plan. View and download the School Gardening Grant application (PDF). For questions, contact conservation@tempe.gov or call 480-350-2668.

Tax Information

Applicants receiving $600 or more in rebate monies total from the City of Tempe Water Conservation Department in a calendar year must submit a W-9 (PDF) form with their application.
