Tempe Aviation Commission (TAVCO) members assist and advise the Mayor and City Council and city departments on issues related to aviation. Commissioners are selected from residents of the city by the Mayor with approval of the City Council. 

Among the commission's duties are to assist and advise:

  • in the monitoring, implementation and enforcement of agreements made between the City of Phoenix and the City of Tempe concerning the operations of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport;
  • in studies conducted of local airports and their developments regarding potential impact on Tempe residents; and
  • on land-use measures that could mitigate the impact of aircraft and airport operations. 

TAVCO meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month in the Engineering and Transportation Conference Room, Garden Level City Hall Complex 31 E. Fifth St.
