Trash and recycling days are changing citywide beginning the week of February 3, 2020.
Beginning Feb. 3, 2020, all trash and recycling residential customers will have a new pick-up day. These changes will affect every residential customer in the city. Some areas of the city will have both trash and recycling days changed. Some areas will only have the trash day collection changed. Other areas will only have their recycling day changed. Customers in the green organics bin program will also see a change as green organics bins will continue to be collected on the same day as recycling. If your recycling day has changed, so will the green organics bin collection.
Bulk trash collection (with green organics) is not affected.
Using a new route management system has given us the ability to better manage our resources and reduce costs. Moving trash collection to Monday through Thursday will also improve our service to residents and means we’ll use less fuel and lower the carbon footprint. Operating in a more efficient manner helps keep rates lower.
The new collection schedule is based on the number of homes on a route and the amount/weight of solid waste and recycling collected. The new collection schedule is no longer based boundary lines.
Your new day can be found in the map below or by calling Tempe 311 at 480-350-4311, Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
