Revitalization of Tempe Town Lake Council Subcommittee

Nikki AmbergJennifer AdamsBerdetta Hodge

Start Date: Announced at the November 19, 2024 Work Study Session

Chair: Councilmember Nikki Amberg

Subcommittee Members: Councilmember Jennifer Adams and Councilmember Berdetta Hodge

Purpose: The purpose of this subcommittee is to focus on the continued revitalization of Rio Salado/Tempe Town Lake.

Background:  In fall 2018, Tempe adopted the Rio Salado and Beach Park Master Plan, a comprehensive planning document that provides improvement recommendations that will shape the area over the next 20 to 30 years. The Rio Salado and Beach Park area includes both sides of Tempe Town Lake between Priest Drive and Rural Road. The master plan focuses on programming, infrastructure, access, use of space and land/water activities to provide a blueprint for future of the area.

Councilmember Amberg is enthusiastic about advancing the revitalization efforts of Rio Salado/Tempe Town Lake. Her priorities include addressing constituent concerns regarding limited activities on the north bank of the lake, supporting the area's appeal as a premier visitor destination, and collaborating with the Rio Salado Master Plan and Arizona State University Rio Reimagined initiative. She aims to enhance both the north and south banks of Tempe Town Lake, fostering increased activities and development across both areas.

Public Meeting Information:
