Two-thirds of jobs will require higher education by 2020. By the time today’s preschoolers complete high school, seven of every 10 jobs will require some type of higher education. Career Ready Tempe aims to help prepare and develop Tempe youth to participate in the future workforce by connecting youth to college and career readiness support and partnering with Tempe employers to provide youth with internships in fields that are in demand. The program will serve income-eligible Tempe youth who are in their junior or senior year of high school. Students will complete an application process to be selected for participation.

Mayor Mitchell and members of Council approved using City of Tempe Innovation Funds to support the program as a two-year pilot. The program is a collaboration between the City of Tempe Human Services Department, Economic Development Department, Tempe Chamber of Commerce, and local Tempe employers.

The program is currently in development. To receive program updates via email, including when youth can apply for the program, please sign up here
