In 2019, the League of American Bicyclists redesignated Tempe a Gold-Level Bicycle Friendly Community. With nearly three percent of Tempe residents biking to work, Tempe has one of the highest percentages of bicycle commuters in the country. Because of the support from the Tempe City Council, Arizona State University, the community and non-profit organizations like the Tempe Bicycle Action Group, Tempe is one of the leading bike communities in the country with 215 miles of bikeways. Each April, Tempe holds two bike events as part of Bike Month: The Tour de Tempe Community Bike Ride and Bike to Work Day.

Starting June 24 and continuing until July 3, the College Avenue Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge will be closed for repairs and painting as part of our ongoing asset management program.
