Digital Accessibility Progress
The City of Tempe is committed to ensuring that its digital content, online services, and communications are accessible to residents with disabilities. Over the past year, the City has taken a series of concrete steps toward meeting and sustaining that commitment.
The City has retained an experienced digital accessibility consultant to guide its compliance efforts under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act and applicable web accessibility standards. That engagement is ongoing and is informing work across multiple city departments.
City staff are participating in digital accessibility training to build internal capacity and ensure that accessibility considerations are integrated into day-to-day work.
The City has begun an assessment of previously published videos and documents to identify accessibility barriers. That archival review is proceeding systematically, with remediation priorities guided by the volume and public significance of affected content.
Social media content published by the City will be created with accessibility in mind, including color choices, image descriptions, and accessible video.
The City is also strengthening its technology procurement practices to require that vendors and contractors demonstrate accessibility compliance before products and services are acquired.
The City will provide updates on this page as this work progresses. Questions about digital accessibility or requests for accommodations may be directed to the ADA Accessibility Coordinator using the contact information below.
