Applications are now being accepted.The Summer Youth Volunteer Program is open to students in middle school, high school and college. The program places students in facilities and programs such as the Tempe Public Library, city swimming pools, etc.

Summer Youth Volunteer Program Opportunities
Adapted Recreation Camp Challenge
Camp Challenge is a day camp program for children and young adults (ages 5-21) with disabilities. The program offers a variety of fun activities including arts and crafts, music, dance, games, sports, swimming and bowling.
Art & Culture Programs Instructors' Assistants
Volunteers work as assistants to instructors teaching classes in art, crafts and dance for preschool and school-age children.
The Junior Lifeguard aquatics program is designed to provide an opportunity for teens to experience the many facets of day-to-day lifeguarding and develop the job skills required to become a lifeguard. Junior Lifeguards will assist with swim classes and will assist lifeguards in their routine duties with maintenance, customer service, etc.
Summer Reading Program and Tempe Tuesdays Assistants
Volunteers may assist staff with preparing program materials, showing patrons how to sign up, enter data into the program website and distribute prized to Reading Club participants.
Volunteers empty book returns, organize library materials in preparation for check-in process, arrange books and other library materials alphabetically and numerically in preparation for shelving. They also file library materials on shelves while maintaining call number accuracy, clean shelves and straighten library reading areas.
Tempe History Museum Program Aides
The museum is a destination for many families and day camp groups during the summer. The museum's summer program is titled Tempe Time Machine. Volunteers help run special days of games, crafts, music and fun at the museum.
Volunteer 101 Bootcamp
The bootcamp serves as an introduction to volunteering for our young and/or less experienced participants. Volunteers will prepare materials and assist with administrative tasks while learning about volunteer opportunities, customer service and more.
