The City of Tempe is actively investing in parks, and we’re excited to bring several improvements to Cole Park. The park is currently in design with construction anticipated to be funded in Fiscal Year 2026/2027.
Proposed improvements include:
- New playground pieces with improved accessibility and features chosen by the community
-
Renovated or replaced playground shade structures
-
Artist-designed accessible rubber surface expanded throughout the playground area
-
New picnic ramada and concrete pad (locations to be determined)
- New site furnishings
Input and ideas from the community will help identify other opportunities for improvements that could be added to the park such as lighting, landscape, irrigation, bike racks, paths, fitness, games, etc.

The improvements are funded out of the city’s Capital Improvement Program budget, as part of the Parks Improvement Plan, which is reinvesting more than $60 million into Tempe parks over the next five years . Additional modifications or enhancements to other park amenities are not included in the budgeted amount.
