Become a lifeguard

Step 1: Turn in an application

Applications will be accepted with and without certifications.

Kiwanis Recreation Center (6111 S. All America Way, Tempe, AZ 85283) or

e-mail: aquatics@tempe.gov

Step 2: Get invited to a skills test. (A manager will call to schedule an interview All applicants must be able to swim, tread water and submerge up to 12 ft.  

Certified applicants must be prepared to demonstrate Lifeguarding and CPR skills at the skills test. 

Step 3: A manager will schedule the applicant to take the Ellis and Associated Lifeguard Certification Course

Class dates will be provided upon completing the skills test

Certification fee: $60

Step 4: After passing all 3 steps, get invited to join the City of Tempe Aquatics Lifeguarding Team!
