Become a lifeguard
Step 1: Turn in an application to:
Kiwanis Recreation Center (6111 S. All America Way, Tempe, AZ 85283) or
Applications will be accepted with and without certifications.
Step 2: Pass a skills test. (A manager will call to schedule) All applicants must be able to swim 200 yards consistently, tread water without hands for two minutes and submerge up to 12 feet to pick up a 10 pound brick.
Certified applicants must be prepared to demonstrate Lifeguarding and CPR skills at the time of the skills test.

|Saturday||9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.||February 8 & 22||March 14 & 28|
|Tuesday||4:30 - 7:30 p.m.||March 3|
|Thursday||4:30 - 7:30 p.m.||April 2 & 9|
Step 3: Sign up for the Ellis and Associated Lifeguard Certification Course
Class dates are available here.
Certification fee: $60
Step 4: After completing the Ellis course, a hiring date will be set.

Junior Guard Program
Thank you for your interest in the Junior Guard Program. At this time we are no longer accepting applications for the 2020 summer season. The Junior Guard Program is cancelled for 2020 and will resume the summer of 2021.
