The Escalante Early Childhood Program offers a variety of organized activities for preschool children, ages 3-5. The program’s emphasis is on developing social, motor, and cognitive skills in a fun, safe, and educational setting. We offer a morning or afternoon session of Tiny Tots or Kinder-Readiness, all to help prepare children for Kindergarten! A limited number of slots are available. Registration is on a first come, first served basis and must take place in person at the Escalante Community Center.

November 4th - Registration Packets will be available at the Escalante Community Center, 2150 E. Orange St. or click here. Registration has to be completed in person and if the child is new to the program the child's birth certificate will need to be provided.
December 2nd – Registration begins for winter semester, takes place in person.

The Escalante Community Center offers a free grant-funded after-school program for students enrolled in Kindergarten at Thew Elementary School. “KinderKids” offers homework help, organized activities for students, a daily snack, themed crafts, fitness, and music, while reinforcing and developing social, motor and cognitive skills, in a classroom just for them.
To register for KinderKids parents will need to provide their photo ID, proof of the student's Thew Elementary School Kindergarten enrollment, and the child's birth certificate. Registration is done on a first come first served basis and done in person at the Escalante Community Center.

After School Program
All students with an active Escalante Youth Membership will be required to participate in the free After School Program during the school year. There is no registration for this program. The after-school program begins once school is released and goes until 6:00 P.M. During this time students will engage in both educational and recreational fun. These activities include but are not limited to fitness classes, arts and crafts, reading program, game room activities, computer room access, homework help, sports, and other classroom activities.
The After School Program follows an open-door policy. Participants are only supervised when they are in center program areas (i.e. game room, gym, classroom or computer room) and may leave the building when they choose to.

Youth Sports Program
Escalante offers a youth soccer program throughout the year and a youth basketball program during the Summer (June-July). This Winter Escalante will be offering the following Youth Sports Programs:

Teen Hoop Nights
Middle and high school students ages 11 to 17 years old are invited to join the City of Tempe for open pick-up basketball games at the Escalante Community Center on select Saturday evenings this winter from 5:30-9 PM. The free program is sponsored by the City of Tempe Police Department. Registration can be done online or in person with bar code 61720. Prior to participating all participants must complete a free membership form with the Escalante Community Center. This membership form can only be filled out in person at Escalante by a parent or legal guardian.
