 The City of Tempe Arts Grants program supports non-profit organizations, schools and individual artists by providing funding for community-initiated, quality and innovative arts programming, and creates opportunities that support the long-term growth of the arts in Tempe. The Arts Grants program supports a commitment to advancing Tempe as a vibrant and progressive community for cultural and artistic activity.

Community Arts Grant

Community Arts Grants are available to non-profit organizations to fund projects with a primary mission of supporting a specific community such as youth, seniors, veterans, and cultural groups in Tempe. Projects should provide quality arts experiences that have a lasting impact on the intended community and project partners. 

Amount: Up to $10,000 - Equal Match Required

Deadline: May 13, 2019 at 5 p.m.

Eligibility: Non-profit organizations

Arts Festival Grant
Arts Festival Grants support festivals that celebrate a community, neighborhood, or shared cultural interest with arts and culture programming. Festivals are regularly occurring events that build community through positive arts and culture experiences. Projects that are funded by this grant are held in public spaces and are accessible to the public. 

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: May 13, 2019 at 5 p.m.

TCA Excellence Grant
TCA Excellence Grants are available to non-profit organizations that develop artistically complex and rigorous programming, and provide impactful arts experiences at the Tempe Center for the Arts. Eligible activities include the production/presentation of artistic performances, commissioning of new works, or continued innovation of existing programming.

Amount: Up to $10,000

Deadline: May 13, 2019 at 5 p.m.

Vibrant Artist Cohort

The Vibrant Artist Cohort (VAC) is for performance-based artists who are ready to advance their creative careers, and deepen their administrative skill sets. Artists who participate in the program will develop all aspects of their career through workshops, one-on-one mentorship, artistic support, project development, and financial support. Artists in the program will work towards creating a project that supports their long-term goals and activates Tempe through the inclusion of arts and cultural participation, celebrating diversity, building community connections, and/or supporting local artists.


$500 Artist Stipend for participating in cohort
$1000 Vibrant City Project Grant

Deadline: May 6, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

Eligibility: Individual Artists who live in Maricopa County

School Arts Grant

School Arts Grants will be available in Fall 2019

School Arts Grants are available to teachers in Tempe schools for arts programming. Funds are available to expand and enhance the services already provided by school arts curriculum, programs and clubs. Grants can be used to fund services of artists and teaching artists, arts supplies, production costs, exhibitions, tickets to an arts program, transportation and space rental. Requests are available up to a maximum of $750 and do not require matching funds.

Eligibility:  K-12 Teachers at Tempe schools
Amount: up to $750, No Match Required

Serving on a grant panel is a great way to learn more about arts programming happening in Tempe, the grant application process, and to get involved in your community.
