The City of Tempe’s Arts Engagement Programs strengthen relationships and build connections within the arts, community, and city. Classes, workshops, arts grants, and special events create opportunities to meaningfully experience and engage in arts and culture. Programming occurs in diverse locations around the city, and shares the voices, perspectives, and experiences of the Tempe community.

Arts Classes

Young Painters StudioThe Edna Vihel Arts Center is a facility for community members to enjoy a variety of arts and culture related classes and programs in Tempe. Classes are for youth and adults and include ceramics, painting, dance, jewelry, theater, and more! More

Arts Grants

Studio Artists Program

Studio_Artist_Program_003Each year, the Studio Artists Program provides visual arts education to over 4,500 students, and supports the careers of 6 professional artists. The program is a partnership between Tempe Elementary District #3 and the City of Tempe, and is funded by State Farm from 2016-2021. More

Tempe Playlist

TempePlaylistAstronautsWithBusFINALTempe Playlist: Saturn Sessions features musicians, poets and singers who live, work or study in South Tempe. The two podcasts feature 26 tracks 11 bands, 3 poets, 7 musicians/singers, and 5 school groups. The playlists are currently available to stream or download on our website. More

 

Tempe Creatives

Tempe Creatives Festivals Workshop_6The City of Tempe hosts workshops designed specifically for artists. Each one has a unique topic, expert presenters, and will provide hands-on guidance that can be immediately used by artists in their practices. The workshops are free and open to all artists in the Valley.  More

Arts Career Day brings 120 sophomore and junior students from seven Tempe Union High School District schools to the Tempe Center for the Arts to learn from professionals who have capitalized upon their artistic skills in creativity, community building, service and communication to build successful careers within and beyond the arts. More

Brazilian Drumming Workshop

Film screenings, workshops, panels, and performances tie the Tempe Center for the Arts with the community and local artists. This programming connects the content presented by touring artists to critical conversations and arts experiences happening in the community. More
