Tempe Arts + Culture frequently has opportunities for artists and creatives to perform at events, share work in gallery spaces, design and create public art, and many other opportunities with Tempe History Museum, Tempe Public Art, Tempe Galleries, Tempe Arts Engagement, and Tempe Center for the Arts.

ADOT I-10 Pedestrian Bridge Public Art Opportunity

The City of Tempe invites artists to submit qualifications to create enhancements for two pedestrian bridges that will cross the I-10 connecting residents between the east and west side of Tempe along the freeway. ADOT (Arizona Department of Transportation) is currently working to design two bridges, one located at Alameda and one connecting the Western Canal. The ADOT aesthetics team has determined a standard bridge cage for these areas. One artist or artist team will be selected to work with the ADOT team on the aesthetics of both bridges with a focus on enhancing the pedestrian experience.

Park Play Areas Public Art Opportunity

The City of Tempe invites artists to submit qualifications to create designs that would be used in the play area rubberized surfaces of upcoming Tempe Park Playground renovation projects. The selected artist(s) will work with the City Public Art Program and Parks Services Section to create images that can be translated into rubber surfaces used in playgrounds. The selected artist(s) will be expected to provide consultation services with staff throughout the project as needed.

Public Art Specialist | Tempe Public Art

Tempe Arts & Culture seeks a Public Art Specialist to join the Tempe Public Art team to assist with the project management of permanent and temporary projects around the city. This role requires excellent communication skills, creativity, attention to detail, and experience with project management.

Studio Artist

The Studio Artists Program is looking for a visual artist with teaching experience. This partnership between Tempe Elementary District and the City of Tempe provides students with an opportunity to experience quality arts programming while providing personal studio space for the artists.  

Artists receive $150 per four-hour workshop taught in approximately 25 classrooms. The artist will develop one workshop that relates to his or her artistic expertise and teach that same workshop to 4th graders. The residency commitment is two years with an option to renew.  The artist will receive a studio space located at an elementary school in Tempe. The personal studio space is available to the artist at all times of the day and throughout the year.

Arts Office Assistant | Edna Arts Center

Tempe Arts & Culture seeks an Arts Office Assistant to work at the front desk of the Edna Vihel Arts Center (Edna Arts). Tasks include administrative duties, class registration, accounting and marketing for the arts education programming. This role requires customer service skills, creativity, attention to detail, and project management skills.

Event Attendants | Tempe Center for the Arts

Tempe Center for the Arts continually accepts applications for four Event Attendant positions from applicants with strong customer service skills. Event Attendants interface with the public, ensure house safety procedures are followed, assist patrons during events, and/or drive golf cart shuttles.
