Records available
Records for the Community Development Department include:
- Building Permits | Certificates of Occupancy | Property Records | Code Violations
- Building Inspection History (inspections conducted for permitted construction and to investigate building code violations/complaints)
- Commercial Building Plans (Note: Property owner/representative permission required to release)
- Residential Building Plans (Note: The city did not retain single family residential building plans until submittals were required electronically in 2020. Prior plans were discarded one year after final building inspection.
- Private Development Engineering (City water, sewer, storm utility maps and as-builts by address. Large areas addressed by Public Works Engineering. The city does not provide quarter section maps due to security issues)
- Hearing Officer files
- Board of Adjustment files
- Design Review Board/Development Review files
- Planning & Zoning Commission files
Record Fulfillment and Fees
The City of Tempe strives to be as expedient as possible. The average processing time is 20 business days. Fees will be charged according to Community Development Public Records Fee Schedule or hard copies of the documents. Pay online for your records using JustFOIA. People may view records in person at the City of Tempe Community Development Department Office at no cost.
