Help shape the future of Downtown Tempe’s historic heart. The City of Tempe is creating a Downtown Historic Core Plan to celebrate and preserve the area’s unique character while planning for thoughtful growth. We’re just getting started and want your ideas and feedback.

In partnership with preservation planners MIG and PMM, Tempe is developing a plan that will protect the area’s historic character while guiding new growth. The team is working closely with City staff, the Historic Preservation Commission, the Development Review Commission, Tempe residents and various stakeholders. Once complete, the plan will be presented to City Council for adoption.

Input opportunities

Community meetings will be held on Wednesday, March 4, 2026

You are invited to join us to provide input on initial recommendations. You’ll also have the opportunity to review plan area boundaries, interactive survey results, existing conditions analysis and an updated historic inventory.
