The Library Advisory Board assists and advises the Community Services Department in:

• the development of a continuing plan for the City’s library program;

• establishing priorities for items other than administrative functions relating to library policy; and,

• receives, accepts, and acquires subject to final action by the City Council by gift, bequest, or devise real and personal property of every kind, nature, and description in the name of the City for library purposes subject to the terms of the gift. 

The Library Advisory Board also suggests to the Mayor and City Council qualified and interested persons eligible for appointment for Board vacancies.

The Library Advisory Board is composed of seven members who are Tempe residents.  Members serve three-year terms.  

The Library Advisory Board typically meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m., except in July and Aug., at the Tempe Public Library, Second Floor Conference Room, 3500 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, AZ 85282 or virtually on Microsoft Teams.
