The City of Tempe and our community business partners have come together to encourage residents to support our local businesses through the Buy Now. Save Local. campaign.

Here's how you can take advantage of this opportunity for increasing your revenue and enhancing your profile:

Register on OpenTempe

opentempe-icon-v2OpenTempe is an app developed by Monas Software and Councilmember Randy Keating. The app connects people to businesses that are currently open and offers details, such as their website, hours of operation, whether they have online shopping or take-out.

Sign up for Hownd and use the mobile app

Sign up for a free account on Hownd. It takes only about 10 minutes.

Hownd is a Tempe-based company that makes it easy for people to buy support vouchers now either through your own website, social media, email or through their MyHownd consumer mobile app.

Add an offer to the MyHownd app. People within 10 miles of your business will see the offer on the app. It's a simple way for them to buy a voucher quickly.

All the funds from any support vouchers purchased stay with your company until someone redeems them. During the program, voucher redemption fees (normally paid by the merchant to Hownd) are being paid by the City of Tempe on a first-come, first served basis, until City funding is depleted. Merchants would only have to pay the fees for the credit card transaction through Stripe

This is a proven method of raising revenue. Hownd has already generated nearly $700,000 for their participating merchants from consumer purchases of support vouchers.

The City will also highlight some of the businesses that have an offer on the MyHownd app on social media and in emails.

If you would like to get started, please visit hownd.com/CityofTempe where you can learn more and sign up.

You can also contact Hownd at 877-777-2715 or supportvoucher@hownd.com.
