In 2015, the League of American Bicyclists re-designated Tempe a Gold-Level Bicycle-Friendly Community. With almost four percent of Tempe residents biking to work, Tempe has one of the highest percentages of bicycle commuters in the country. Because of the support from the Tempe City Council, Arizona State University, the community and non-profit organizations like the Tempe Bicycle Action Group, Tempe is one of the leading bike communities in the country. Each April, Tempe holds two bike events as part of Bike Month: The Tour de Tempe Community Bike Ride and Bike to Work Day.

CLOSURE: The Rio Salado Multi-use Path on the south side of Tempe Town Lake will be closed east of Loop 101 in Mesa beginning Sept. 1. Check back for updates.
