Tempe, Arizona – Community members can watch videotaped statements from City Council candidates throughout this summer and fall on Tempe 11.

Seven candidates have been confirmed by the Tempe City Clerk as meeting eligibility requirements to run for three City Council seats, all with terms of office that begin in January 2015. The Primary Election is Aug. 26, 2014, and the General Election is Nov. 4, 2014.

Starting June 12 before and after the live City Council meetings, Tempe residents can tune in to Cox Channel 11 at 5 p.m. and at approximately 9 p.m. to watch candidate statements that were taped that afternoon. The statements will re-air regularly on Tempe 11 until the next City Council meeting, when a new batch of statements will be recorded. The last taping will be on the date of the City Council meeting prior to the General Election.

Statements also can be viewed at www.tempe.gov/tempe11. They will be catalogued on that webpage throughout election season.

Candidates have up to five minutes to communicate their viewpoints.

Candidates for City Council must have submitted the valid signatures of between 1,129 and
2,257 registered Tempe voters by 5 p.m. on May 28.

For questions, contact the City Clerk’s Office at clerk@tempe.gov or 480-350-8241. Detailed information about the 2014 elections is available at www.tempe.gov/election.
