Tempe PD actively seeking public’s help to ID suspect in CSAM sticker investigation

Nearly a dozen crimes reported along the Western Canal since last September

Post Date:04/16/2025 2:30 PM

Tempe, AZ — The Tempe Police Department is investigating a series of crimes involving the public display of child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Since September 7, 2024, we’ve received nearly a dozen reports of these disturbing images being posted in public areas.

The images have been found on light poles, signage, and path markers—primarily along the Western Canal from S. Lakeshore Dr. to E. Vaughn St., including S. Country Club Way. Additional incidents have occurred in Mesa and Chandler near Carriage Lane Park and the Price/Western Canal Path.

Some areas have been targeted multiple times, with new images appearing within 24 hours of removal. The material is printed on low-quality, adhesive-backed paper—likely made using a home printer.

We believe the suspect may live near or frequently travel along the Western Canal path. At this time, there is no suspect description.

This is a serious and ongoing investigation, and we need your help. If you’ve seen anything suspicious or have information, please contact Tempe Police at (480) 354-8900.

Your assistance is vital to stopping these repeated crimes and protecting our community.
