Tempe Police Arrest 24-year-old for online threats against Donald Trump Jr. and Charlie Kirk

TEMPE, ARIZ. – The Tempe Police Department arrested 24-year-old Daniel Ashpes for multiple counts of threats made towards Donald Trump Jr., and Charlie Kirk who were in Tempe for a political rally.    

On October 17, 2024, Tempe Police became aware of threatening messages directed towards Donald Trump Jr. and Charlie Kirk hours prior to the commencement of the Turning Point political rally located at hotel in Tempe.    

Once police became aware of the threats, an investigation was launched immediately by the Tempe Police Department, Threat Mitigation Unit.  That same day, probable cause was established for Ashpes and he was arrested around 5:30 P.M., that evening and booked into the Tempe City Jail for the following charges:

3 counts of Threatening to Cause Physical Injury to another person, class 1 misdemeanor.

1 count of Using a phone to threaten or intimidate, class 1 misdemeanor.
