New program offers funding to address loneliness and social isolation in Tempe

Post Date:05/31/2019

TEMPE, AZ (May 24, 2019) – Tempe Community Council (TCC) announces its new Connector Award offering funding for innovative and new ideas addressing loneliness and social isolation in Tempe.

The Connector Award is designed to fund projects in areas crucial to addressing a human service need in Tempe.  Community members and social service providers in Tempe recently told TCC that loneliness and social isolation are critical issues to be addressed.

“We want to tackle loneliness and help people of all ages connect with each other,” says Brandon Willey, Tempe Community Council Board President.  “TCC’s core mission is about encouraging connections and creating an inclusive and compassionate community, where everyone feels they belong. This is where we should invest funds.”

Tempe Community Council has up to $50,000 to invest for the Connector Award’s first year.  Award amounts range from $500 to $50,000 depending on the number of awardees and scope and scale of ideas.

Those with ideas must submit a letter of intent. Viable submissions will be invited to provide formal presentations.

Selected projects must show the greatest potential for developing into viable solutions to improve inclusivity and connection in Tempe.

Letters of Intent are due via online submission by July 1.

For more information or to submit ideas, visit tempecommunitycouncil.org/connector-award or call 480.858.2300.
