Tempe History Museum’s 8th Annual Essay Contest event is on Saturday, April 28.
What makes Tempe distinct, diverse and dynamic? The Tempe History Museum asked this question to Tempe School District #3 (TD3) students in the 4th through 8th grades for its eighth annual essay contest.
The first and second place winners will be announced at the Tempe History Museum on Saturday, April 28, and the winners will read their essays. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 am and conclude by 11:30 am. Governing Board President Rochelle Wells will present the awards and share remarks. Connelly Middle School Orchestra will be playing at the event as well.
Tempe History Museum partnered with (TD3) for the eighth annual Essay Contest Each year, students in 4th through 8th grade submit essays based on a theme. Awards and prizes are given to the first and second place winners of the contest. The awards and prizes are made possible through a generous donation by former Museum Board president Lisa Roach.

4th-5th Grade Category:
First Place: Valiant Moe Spanko, Curry Elementary
Second Place: Charlotte Brandt, Fuller Elementary
6th-8th Grade Category:
First Place: Camryn Risley, Connolly Middle School
Second Place: Nadia Vu, Connolly Middle School
Each first-place winner will receive a $25 gift card to Changing Hands Bookstore and a trophy. Each second-place winner will receive a $20 gift card to Changing Hands Bookstore and a ribbon.
