Friday, April 26
6:30 – Panel discussion: “Bechdel and Beyond” (FREE)
A conversation around why representation/diversity/inclusion are imperative on our stages and screens, and what questions, beyond the Bechdel Test, should be asked.
7:30 – short film Cafe Abundance / full-length play The Tragic Ecstasy of Girlhood by Kira Rockwell (national winner)When two friends meet for lunch at a hipster cafe, they try their best to fit in... but something's gotta give. / Four teenage girls living in state care try to combat their grief over the sudden death of a housemate.
Saturday, April 27
4:00 – short films: Apricot / June in January / Scattered (Bridge Bechdel Honorable Mention); short plays: Lilies from Iron by Alison Campbell & Ann Marie Wilding / Is it Cold in Here? by Julie Weinberg
A dark comedy where wisdom meets youthful ingenuity in a battle of wits and (breakfast) loops. / A young woman looks up her former teacher to address their past and seek closure. / Two friends scatter their friend's ashes in the woods, by a stream. / Millennials’ friendship and loyalty are tested in the aftermath of a sexual assault incident on a college campus. / A comedy about death inspired by an actual conversation between the playwright’s mother and aunt.
7:00 – short film A Land Shaped by Women (Bridge Bechdel Honorable Mention) / full-length play An Ocean of Bees by Susan Hansell (Arizona winner)
As their travel unfolds, playing in the mountains, in the waves or under the spectacular northern lights, two female snowboarders introduce viewers to the iconic Icelandic women they met along the way. / For a former sheriff, finding “north” might mean more than just finding the right direction.
Sunday, April 28
12:00 – Workshop: “Sides/Callbacks”
Casting directors and artistic directors will discuss audition and callback best practices, and 12 participants will have the opportunity to audition with prepared sides and receive feedback from the panel. Send headshot/resume to email@example.com to sign up for an "audition" spot.
2:00 – short film Mother’s Way (Bridge Bechdel Grand Prize) / full-length play The Way North by Tira Palmquist (national runner-up)
Pregnancy can be eagerly awaited, unexpected, welcome, and not. A funny, poignant riff on what happens when that test comes back! / For a former sheriff, finding “north” might mean more than just finding the right direction.
4:00 – Awards ceremony (FREE, including new AUDIENCE AWARDS to be voted on throughout the festival)
Single tickets are $15 / $10 students/seniors, festival passes are $35 / $25 students/seniors INCLUDING fees. Festival passes available through the box office only. Presale with password begins 3/15, public sale begins 4/1.
