Tempe Community Council is asking Tempe residents, service organizations and businesses to determine what kinds of programs, services and funding is needed for human services programs, such as those for homeless people.
Tempe City Council approved $1 million to fund non-profit organizations that help Tempe residents through the agency review process. Tempe Community Council is in the process of doing a community needs assessment to determine which programs and services should have priority, whether there are gaps in services and whether new programs should be explored.
Issues being assessed include:
Youth programs and services
There will be opportunities to include other issues as well.
Tempe Community Council is the City of Tempe’s non-profit agency. Serving the community since 1972, this agency addresses human services needs in Tempe by collaborating with area non-profit agencies that can most benefit residents, raising and distributing funds and providing services such as tax preparation for low income families. The organization is best known for its Help to Others program, which allows residents to help the less fortunate through Tempe’s water bill, and the annual Don Carlos Humanitarian Awards. www.tempecommunitycouncil.org
