Fall Volunteer Positions (September - December)

Applications for Fall Volunteer Positions are available on August 1st

 

          Youth Volunteer Corp - YVC volunteers shelve audio and video materials and paperbacks and holiday books; clean up the family play-area; prepare crafts materials for story times; and assist the librarians of the Youth Library with various other tasks. Volunteers should be in 6th- 9th grades, and be able to work a specific 2-hour shift once every week from September to December. Attendance at an orientation/training session is required.
 

          Computer Assistant - Computer Assistants help young patrons and their parents reserve online computers in the Youth Library; help with Internet use, word processing and printing; and take care of a variety of simple technical problems and area maintenance. Volunteers should be in  9th - 12th grades; and be friendly, outgoing, and enjoy interacting with young patrons and their parents. Computer Assistants must be able to work a specific 2-hour shift once every week from September to December. Each computer assistant will have an individualized, short orientation session before their first work shift.

 

Spring Volunteer Positions (January - April)

Applications for Spring Volunteer Positions are available on December 1st

Summer Volunteer Positions (May-July)

Applications for the Summer Volunteer Positions are available on April 1st

 

          Summer Reading Club Volunteers - SRC volunteers assist with Summer Reading Club registration, explain the reading program to children and parents, give out prizes and help encourage young children to read. SRC volunteers must have completed 6th grade and be able to work two (2) specific 2-hour shifts each week for the duration of the Summer Reading Club (usually late May through the end of July). SRC volunteers are required to attend an orientation/training session, which are usually held the week before Summer Reading Club begins.
