The
Tempe History Museum Youth Advisory
Committee (HMYAC) brings a teen
perspective to the Tempe History
Museum. Teens represent the future of
Tempe and it is important that the
museum includes them
in our planning and programs. The
museum strives to provide services that
foster an understanding and appreciation
of Tempe’s unfolding history in a way
that teens find relevant and
interesting.
The HMYAC helps the
museum staff to gain
teens'
perspectives on their community, its
history, their concerns, and how best to
involve them
in the museum’s programs.
HMYAC has begun important work. The
current members of the committee are
establishing lines of communication
among the museum staff and high school
students. Without their dedication,
assistance and enthusiasm, the museum
would not be able to reach out as
effectively to this important audience.
The staff is indebted to these teens for
their willingness to forge ahead!
Representatives for the HMYAC
are juniors
and seniors
at the high
schools within the Tempe Union High
School District.
HMYAC meets monthly at the museum from
September through May.
