Instructors' Assistants Youth age 13 and above and adults may serve as an instructor's assistant for children's classes. Volunteers assist the lead instructor of children's special interest classes presented by the City of Tempe. Volunteers help with class set-up and clean-up, craft material preparations and assist the instructor as needed. Volunteers also interact with class participants helping them with class activities, monitoring behavior, supervising bathroom and water breaks, and more. Class subject matter, location, days and times vary; see class list below. The volunteer commitment is for the duration of the class session. All volunteers must complete an application and interview through the volunteer office at 480-350-5190. There are opportunities to assist with special interest classes for preschool and school-age children on topics such as art, dance, tumbling, sports, and more at the Escalante Community Center (E), 2150 E. Orange St., Tempe; the Northside Community Center, 1555 N. Bridalwreath, Tempe (N) and the Edna Vihel Center for the Arts (V), 3340 S. Rural Rd., Tempe (V). Class list below.
