Be a part of the Tempe Public Library renovation! The Tempe Public Library will be undergoing a major renovation and the entire bottom floor will be closed for remodeling beginning in June. As a result, the entire book collection must be shifted to make space on the main floor for all the books that will be brought up from the lower level. Many volunteers are needed to help with this massive job! The last time there was a project of this magnitude was 20 years ago when the library moved from its old location into the current building! Work will entail bending, lifting, standing on a step stool, pushing carts of books and cleaning and dusting shelves as books are moved. The project will run Saturdays through Thursdays during the month of April, and possibly into May. Individuals and groups of up to12 volunteers can choose to start at 3, 4, 5 or 6 p.m. on weekdays for two to four hour shifts; 9 am to 12 noon on Saturdays; and 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. If you would like to be a part of the library’s “move into the future”, call the city’s volunteer office at 480-350-5190
