The Mission of the Volunteer Program
The mission of the City of Tempe municipal volunteer program is to connect
citizens to their city government through opportunities to serve within the
Tempe municipal government organization and the community.
Volunteers serve in Tempe government offices, programs and facilities and expand and enhance the services the city
is able to provide to the community. Volunteers enable the city to stretch tax dollars and improve the lives of its citizens.
A wide variety of service opportunities exist for individuals and groups,
from sixth-graders through golden-agers, from a few hours to years of service.
We welcome you to check us out!

Dear Tempe Volunteers:
You give your time to our police
department and our library, to our pools and the Tempe Historical
Museum. You represent all ages from pre-teens to retirees. You're our
city volunteers and we are incredibly grateful to have you on the team.
The hard work of volunteers in all our
departments saves taxpayer dollars and assists in the city's mission to
provide essential services and desired amenities to our residents. Your
efforts are particularly commendable, in my view, because I know what
it's like to be a volunteer. As a longtime volunteer for local
organizations like East Valley Habitat for Humanity and Assistance for
Independent Living, I realize the value of giving one's time.
As you volunteer in Tempe, if there is
ever anything I can do, please let me know. I'll always be there for the
legions of good people who help this great city of ours.
Cordially,
Hugh Hallman, Mayor
