Fall Events
More than 1,500 people are expected to participate in the 14th annual Tour de Tempe community bike ride. The ride starts and ends at Tempe’s Kiwanis Park (Parking lot off All-America Way just north of Guadalupe Road). This is a free community event with plenty of activities for the whole family, including: Community ride - The 12-mile route will be lead by Tempe Bicycle Action Group. The ride weaves through diverse neighborhoods, downtown Tempe, public art projects and the Mill Avenue Farmer's Market (located in Sixth Street Park). The Farmer's Market will be providing free water for the ride back. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and the ride begins at 9 a.m. First 800 participants will receive free T-shirts (participants must be present to receive a T-shirt). Helmets are required. Event raffle - All Tour de Tempe participants can enter a drawing to receive a great giveaways. Recycle your used athletic shoes and receive an additional ticket into the raffle. All shoes will used for the Nike's Reuse-A-Shoe recycling program. Entertainment - Southern Arizona Freestyle Entertainment will be out showing off the latest BMX tricks. Shows begin every hour. There will be interactive, transportation related activities where kids can enjoy free play time. Projects and activities include:
Bike Rodeo - Learn the rules of the road in a fun safe environment. The Tempe Police Department will be onsite leading riders through an obstacle course that will allow them to practice critical skills and learn about common accident situations.
