Daley Park Traffic Calming

Final Draft Action Plan as of Sept. 4, 2009

Residents from the Daley Park Neighborhood have been working together to identify alternatives to help address cut-through traffic.  Since April 2007, several neighborhood meetings were held to discuss these issues. At the February 2008 meeting, a request was received to start a new process using the Council-adopted Streetscape and Transportation Enhancement Program (STEP) policy.

During the test period (May and June 2009), Tempe obtained input from residents, the Tempe Fire Department and Tempe Elementary School District.  Encanto (west) residents voiced concerns about test features including loss of parking in front of their house, bike travel, cars are driving closer to the sidewalk and ability to get in and out of driveways. A meeting was held on-site on Encanto on June 4, 2009.  Attendees included Encanto residents and Action Team members.  A new concept for Encanto (west) was presented. There was consensus for the concept based on comments from the attendees.
