College Avenue Streetscape and Pedestrian Improvements Project

Residents who live along College Avenue between Apache Boulevard and the US 60  are exploring  traffic calming concepts to help address cut-through traffic and speeding in their neighborhood.  Based on neighborhood concerns, project consultants worked with staff to develop design concepts, including traffic circles, chicanes and other traffic calming measures.

Following a public input period, the traffic calming concepts were refined based on neighborhood feedback. Revised traffic calming concepts are available for review below. Proposed measures (using temporary equipment that simulate permanent measures) will be in place for a two-month temporary test phase until December 2008. The test phase will be used to evaluate effectiveness of the measures, determine neighborhood support and finalize the traffic calming concepts that will be permanently implemented in 2009.
