Transportation Maintenance (Streets and Traffic Ops) maintains the streets, alleys, sidewalks, storm drains, traffic signals and street lights. Office number: (480) 350-8284; Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Bus Service in Tempe operates seven days a week from approximately 5 a.m. to 1 a.m., Monday through Saturday and from 5 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Sunday. Most Tempe bus routes operate every 15 - 20 minutes from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Bus service is also available on all major holidays with service following Sunday schedules.  Regular fare is $1.75 for one ride.  Discount fare is available for people 65 and older, people with disabilities and people 6 to 18. (fare info.) All Tempe buses are wheelchair accessible. In addition, Tempe is a bicycle friendly community with more than 165 miles of bikeways. METRO and all buses are equipped with bike racks, and most major destinations in Tempe provide convenient bicycle parking. 

METRO Light Rail: Weekday Hours. Trains begin the first full trip of the day at approximately 4:40 a.m. Monday through Thursday the last full trip of the day begins at 11 p.m., arriving at the opposite end of the line at midnight. On Friday night the last full trip begins at 2 a.m., arriving at the opposite end of the line at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. Trains arrive every 12 minutes from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; all other hours, every 20 minutes. Weekend and Holiday Hours. Trains begin the first full trip of the day at 5 a.m. at the end-of-the-line stations. The last full trip begins at 11 p.m., arriving at the opposite end of the line at midnight. On Saturday night the last full trip begins at 2 a.m., arriving at the opposite end of the line at 3 a.m. Sunday morning. Trains arrive every 15 minutes Saturdays between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. All other hours, and on Sundays, trains arrive every 20 minutes. METRO is also available on all major holidays with service following weekend schedules. 

 

 

Know your rights under Title VI

The city of Tempe, under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes, must ensure that no person in the city of Tempe shall, on the grounds of race, color, national origin, sex, disability and age, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any federally funded program or activity it administers.   

Customer Rights and Grievances - Passengers using federally funded public transit should have equal access, seating and treatment. Complaints for non-compliance with Title VI and related statutes may be lodged with Valley Metro customer service at 602-253-5000 (TTY 602-261-8208). Complaints that customer service receives are documented and assigned to the appropriate transit staff for investigation in accordance with federal standards.  After processing the complaint, customer service will respond to the complainant and, if warranted by the investigation, take appropriate action.  The city of Phoenix Public Transit Department is responsible for monitoring this process and completed reports.
