Our Program
Tempe in Motion (TIM) provides bus, bicycle,
pedestrian and light rail facilities and encourages getting around Tempe in anything
but a car.
Our goal is to provide a
balanced transportation system that is environmentally sustainable, accessible,
preserves neighborhoods,
promotes transit-oriented development and involves citizens in the
process.
The city of Tempe actively supports Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design (LEED) certified buildings.
The
TIM program consists of traffic engineering, transportation planning,
ITS (signal timing coordination), bus operations, light rail transit and
marketing.
Transportation Commission
Tempe’s Transportation Commission, an
advisory group of 15 residents, meets monthly to provide direction
in implementing Tempe’s transportation program. The Commission has three
committees: Accountability/Governance,
Marketing/Public Involvement and Multi-Modal Planning/Project Review. Visit the
City Clerk for meeting dates and times.
